Poor customer service regarding early termination - no phone service at new location

We recently moved from Iowa to Minnesota.  We have had Verizon for a number of years and been very satisfied.  At our new location the service was terrible so I contacted Verizon and was told we were in a "minimal service area".  After a few weeks I contacted them again and said we had ver unreliable service.  The rep agreed our area was not a good service area and agreed there would be no termination fee if service was not available.  She said we would receive one final billing for the month of July because Verizon had just been notified.  We rec'd and paid the bill then cancelled our services.  We have since gotten a land line and internet via the phone company.  I just rec'd a billing of $555 from Verizon for early termination and called "customer service".  The first person said he (Fred) could do nothing unless "tech support" marked the account as not being serviceable.  I was transferred to "tech support".  They said it appeared we should get "some 3G service" - even though 2 tech support people earlier in July said we were in a minimal service area.  I was told the early termination fee applied because the service was OK in the location where we had originally signed up (Iowa) and that Verizon had completed their end of the bargain at that location.  The "rep" said it was not the fault of Verizon that we chose to move to an area without Verizon service!!  Since I can find no site to register this complaint on the Verizon website I have chosen to post it here and then contact the Minnesota Attorney General's Office for help.

I would call back to customer service, and have them locate this representative that gave you the above information.  Look in your phone records for the time and date as well to help with this as you were informed that a ETF would not be charged.

I'm surprised they did not push to sell you a network extender for your home.

If you were in contract and you moved to an area that didn't have service... that's your fault
