I tried to Port out my Verizon number to an at&t mvno 8 days ago. After the mvno requested the Port, they said I needed a new SIM card etc. Since I never got a SIM card the Port never completed.
Yesterday I had enough waiting and tried to Port my number to Google fi. However fi says that there is a pending Port request on my Verizon number and therefore they cannot Port my number to fi.
Mu question is: if a Port doesn't successfully complete, does the request time out? If so, how long would it take?

If something is pending, you request to speak with LNP to cancel the port. Dunno about a time frame for time out, but this is your best bet.
Needing a sim for a port out makes zero sense. It's about as much related to a port request as giving your shoe size to a waiter. All a port requires is the account number and the account pin. If anything, the sim is from the new carrier since the one from VZW won't be used anyway.

I know the SIM card issue made no sense but know the Port request from fi cannot be processed due to previous pending request.
What is LNP and how do I reach them?

At this point, I would certainly recommend reaching out to our port team. You can reach them at

That is the absolute most worthless piece of advise ever as verizon's automated system states "please enter the number you would like to port into verizon" and, naturally, one can't ***gasp*** actually talk to a human but instead to a fudging automated system which, frankly, terrible.

I am disappointed to hear about your experience with porting. Our Port Team is here and ready to support you. Are you trying to port in a number on an existing line? What exactly is going on? - AlbertoR_VZW
