Refusal to honor plan offered by rep?

On monday I was offered a more everything plan at a certain price by a rep on chat.  Two days later when i went back on chat to switch over to this plan they refused to honor the price that the previous rep offered.  Is this something acceptable? Definitely has put a sour taste in my mouth

Currently have 4 lines, 2 are month to month and 2 are month to month in May. She proposed the more everything plan with 10gb of data plus 1 free gb for the first year.  At first she stated it would be $138 pretaxes.  This included the employee discount and $25 credit x2 for M2M phones.   I asked if there was anything else that could make the bill less and she came back with 2 $10 credits but i had to sign onto the plan for atleast a year.  So that brought it down to $118 pre taxex.  It sounded a little weird but then asked what would happen in may when my other 2 lines were month to month.  She stated that if i did not use the upgrade i would recieve $25x4 credit which would bring it to $68.   That once i did use the upgrade on line i would no longer recieve $25 CREDIT for that line.  The rep i talked to today was very nice and appeared to be trying to make it right.  Thanks shanequa! She saw that the first rep had put those numbers in my account as to what was offered, but couldnt come nowhere near the lowest they would go was the more everything 6gb of data was $111 pretax.   That was with not upgrading phones and if i decided to upgrade each phone i did would add $40 to the bill.  I dont get how the first rep Amberly... could have had absoulety no idea what she was talking about?  Thanks for the help ellie

More Everything plans have a line access fee of $40/smartphone. If you are out of contract(month to month) you are eligible to get a $25 discount on this fee, bringing it down to $15/smartphone but you have to manually add it for each line.

2 x $15(month to month smartphone) = $30

2 x $20(current basic phone line access fee)= $40

10 GB data plan currently = $80

total = $150

employer discount on data plan of $12(15% discount) would bring your total down to $138

This is certainly reasonable, but if your other 2 lines are smartphones I don't see how you could have gotten down to this amount originally.

You say you were offered 2 $10 credits, but since these are not listed anywhere on the Verizon site, you may be out of luck on those. You may have been offered these credits, but since you did not take them when they were offered they may not have been available at the time you chose to make the change. Verizon's promotions change all the time and if you don't take them when they are offered you will not get them if they expire before you choose to do so.

Now to the last value, it is true you would be eligible for a $25 credit on a line access fee for smartphones if 2 smartphone lines changed from contract to month to month, but if your lines were basic phones they would not be eligible for that discount. If you change those lines from basic phones to smartphone and kept the month to month status, you would be eligible for that $25 credit on each line, but it would only be a NET $5 savings/line, not a $25 savings/line because you would be going from a $20 line access fee to a $15($40 - $25 = $15) from a $40 line access fee. This would only take $10 from your bill, not the $50 you have listed.

First thing I would warn about is an offer which sounds "too good to be true" because the usually are. You thought you were going to get 4 smartphone lines with 10 GB of shared data for $68 pre-tax??? That would certainly fall into the "too good to be true" category and I would have asked where that rate was advertised ANYWHERE by Verizon. I would not trust any rate you are quoted which you cannot find on Verizon's website available for the general public. Even loyalty plans(usually the lowest level of plan with most restrictions) do not save you that much money over the quoted rates.

Bottom line is that Verizon's BEST price for 4 smartphone lines with 10 GB of data is currently $160 and this price comes with some pretty big restrictions. You say you were offered this same plan at a price of 42% of that amount or $68($17/line) TOTAL?????? This does not seem realistic.

Can you imagine how it would shake up the cellular industry if all of a sudden Verizon cut its prices by 58%. To think you were somehow going to get this price kind of seems incredible. I would certainly have wanted to see SOME sort of proof this price was REAL. Like I said in my previous post. Beware of a deal which is "too good to be true" because they usually are.

Thanks for putting the numbers into perspective for me. lol i just cant believe that rep had no clue.  Is the other deal that was offered any good? more everything 4 smart lines 6gb for 111 pretax.  Only thing that sucks is having to buy retail or else it jumps 40 a phone

First of all, I am assuming your employer discount is 15% from the values on my previous post. Next, Verizon CURRENTLY does not offer a 6 GB data tier. The 6 GB data tier used to be priced at $80 which is what is CURRENTLY being charged for 10 GB of data. How long this promotion will be in effect, I have no way of knowing, but it may end January 31 and be replaced with another promotion.

CURRENTLY, the next lowest tier of shared data is 4 GB for $70 which in my opinion is crazy to purchase when you can get 150% MORE data(6 GB more for a total of 10 GB) for only $10 more AND increase your month to month discount by $10/line(from $15/month to $25/month)!!!!!! With ONLY one line on month to month you break even on the price!!!!! With MORE than 1 line on a month to month discount and you will pay MORE for 4 GB than you would pay for 10 GB!!!!!!!!!!

So I guess my answer would be to stick with 10 GB as you will end up paying MORE if you drop to 4 GB as there is CURRENTLY nothing in between.

Price with 4 smartphones(month to month) on 10 GB at CURRENT prices:

4 x $15 = $60

10 GB data = $80

total = $140

employer discount = $12 bringing total down to $128

Price with 4 smartphones(month to month) on 4 GB at CURRENT prices:

4 x $25 = $100

4 GB data = $70

total = $170

employer discount = $10.50 bringing total down to $159.50

Stick with the 10 GB plan!

Finally, taxes are calculated on the line access fee charges, so with a $25 discount on each line access fee, your taxes will ALSO drop for each line with the month to month discount!!!!

So she was wrong when she offered 6 gb of data ? She said she could possibly get it bumped to 7 gb.  pull my other 2 phones to month to month (so all 4 would be then) and give $10 credit for signing on plan for a year.  I think she said it was inline with what verizon employees are offered( how true who knows) Im not good with numbers but does that come to $111 pretax.  By the way thanks for all the help

I am only going by the More Everything website which CURRENTLY has no 6 GB tier. Currently that tier is being offered as 10 GB for the same price of what Verizon used to have 6 GB and there is no 6 GB tier.

I am not sure what she meant by "pull my other 2 phones to month to month" since if your contract ends in May of 2015, THAT is when they will be month to month. I can't see any Verizon rep being able to simply cancel out the last 4 months of your contract. Of course I could be wrong.

Obviously, since I am not a Verizon employee, I don't know what Verizon employees are offered, nor am I confident that a Verizon employee would be able to offer you the same if you were not in fact a Verizon employee.

For what it is worth, with my employee discount, I am routinely told by Verizon employees that I get a better discount than they do, but they could just be yanking my chain.

Whether or not their un-verifiable numbers come to $111 pretax, I don't have any way of knowing. Yes, they could possibly come to $111 pretax, but without any way to verify them, how would you know???

ALL numbers I have given are verifiable via Verizon's website available to ANYONE who would like to shop their prices.

... there are some special data promotions still being offered for 4GB, 6GB and 8GB - lower end offers of the dbl-data promo - so the OP may have been offered the 6GB for $60
