Regular Visual Voice Mail doesn't exist?

On this Verizon webpage [ Voice Mail Comparisons | Verizon Wireless ], there is a "Basic Visual Voice Mail" and a "Premium Visual Voice Mail".  The basic one is included and the premium one is $2.99 a month.  I have a Droid MAXX but I have no basic visual voice mail even though my device is on the list of compatible devices [ Visual Voice Mail: Compatible Devices | Verizon Wireless ].  I followed the instructions [ Visual Voice Mail FAQs | Verizon Wireless ] to set up visual voice mail, but when I open the "Voicemail" app on my phone, it brings me to a screen where my only options are to start a 30-day trial for Visual Voice Mail (why doesn't it say it's the premium one?), to call my voicemail, or to deny the trial.

So according to Verizon, I should have basic visual voice mail included and my device is compatible, so why don't I have visual voice mail?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe Verizon is currently in the process of updating its Visual Voicemail service. Last month when the LG G2 was updated to Kitkat, in the change logs basic visual voicemail was included at no charge. If you also look at the Visual Voice Mail - Verizon Wireless you'll see that premium visual voicemail is currently only available on the LG G2 and the Lucid 3.

What I would take this to mean is, that soon like the other carriers, Verizon will be allowing its subscribers to access the visual voicemail service for free, and the $2.99 premium version will be able to transcribe part of the voicemail to text so you can read your voicemails.

The other main difference is that the premium visual voicemail will have a higher inbox capacity (40 instead of 20), but until we start seeing this update roll out to other devices, I am just taking a shot in the dark. If I am right, this is a welcomed change, nobody should have to pay for basic visual voicemail in 2014.

It says that it's "available on the LG G2 and the Lucid 3", not that it's only available on those two devices.  Additionally, this page [ Voice Mail Comparisons | Verizon Wireless ] doesn't mention any restrictions at all for Premium Visual Voice Mail on any device.

Either way, Verizon is doing a poor job of communicating anything regarding Visual Voice Mail to any of its current or potential customers.
