Looking for any solution / options. I have a house alarm system that communicates to central station via IP as primary communication. Yes, all supporting devices are on battery backup so a power outage won't take out central station reporting.
Without purchasing additional equipment, I wish to achieve a backup cellular communication line for the system. I have a spare Verizon 4G USB stick and a 4G gateway that will place this on my home network as a gateway that the alarm is able to use as an internet gateway. That all works fine.
My dilemma, is I think $20/month for access charges to add the USB stick to my share everything plan is way too high; this would be more inline with the Connected Devices $5/month (ie Galaxy Camera, Delphi car module). Does Verizon offer other plans not listed on their website, or provide alternate options for devices that don't fit the typical model of usage?
