I have lived in my current home for 7 years, and starting within the last year, service has degraded to the point where I occasionally get 1 bar, at best, in my home, or within 2 blocks of my house. I am not in a rural area, and the service used to be great. Several of my neighbors who also use Verizon, have the same complaint, and we all use different phones. I refuse to buy a network extender to correct a problem that didn't previously exist, and will be switching if the problem isn't resolved.
Your best bet would be to call, and have technical support verify your issue so they can submit a trouble ticket to see if the network department is planning any improvements for your area or switch to another carrier if there is one that works better where you need it to.
