Has anyone actually done this with the ip5 and succeeded? I have done most of this process (upgraded to ip5 on a basic phone line, then re-activated the basic phone on that line and verified that the data plan was removed). Now, I'm waiting 24 hours before I can activate the ip5 on my line, and hopefully keep my unlimited data plan. I was told that I have to wait 24 hours before I can re-use the SIM card and get it activated on my line.

I went in to the store today to do that same thing and they would not let me keep my unlimited. I'm calling customer service first thing tomorrow and try to have it switched back. Tried calling tonight but was waiting forever.

sounds like you went to a Premium RETAILER, and not a Corporate Store.

Hey Ash67,
Ok so my wife wanted the S3. We did the reverse of what you did but ended up ok. I don't know if your situation will work. We transferred her upgrade to one of the basic lines, then upgraded to the S3 on that line. Phone came last night. I called CS(*611). They actually said when you transfer like we did it still renews the line the upgrade was transferred from and not the phone we upgraded. Technically they should have taken away our unlimited for her. BUT...they did not. I explained that another CS had directed us to do it this way and she went ahead and activated the phone on the data line instead of the basic line. Then fixed the unlimited data. Checked our plan today and we're still all good.
Now your situation is different because you ordered using the data line and not the basic line. Previously, I thought it best to go in store. But after last night, definitely call in. Ask all the questions before anything is done. DO NOT turn on the iphone at all until you've spoke with CS and know how to proceed. If the first isn't helpful call back a few times and double/triple check. They can, as last night proves, let you keep your unlimited!! Best of luck to you.
I get my iPhone sometime around Oct. 5th. But it was ordered on a basic line eligible for upgrade. No transfer. Once i get it I'll just call in and be done.

ok I have a question. I went into the Verizon store last week since my phone was up for a renewal and to look at new phones. For giggles I asked if they had any more iphones left. They did so I upgraded it. Well I went online today to look at my bill and found out I am no longer unlimited, but now on a 2 gig data plan. They never told me this when I upgraded. I knew Verizon dones't do unlimited, but if you were grandfathered in you are ok. Now I am still within my 14 day trial, if I go back to what I had, will i stil have my unlimited or is it gone?
Also I was thinking about calling and have them put the iphone on a basic line, activate my old phone that had unlimited, then put an old basic phone for the old line and bring the iphone over to my main line to keep unlimited. Can I do this?

I don't think that'll work. Since you upgraded directly on the unlimited data line you might have eliminated any chances to keep the unlimited. Not sure about the 14 day trial window. If I were you I'd try that asap. May be your only chance. If it works out for you and everything is put back to normal, only upgrade using the basic line. Once you receive your new phone for the basic line, call in to have it activated on your data line before ever powering it on.
Good luck!!

well good news. I called into CS twice last night explaining my issue. the 1st rep was very rude and unhelpful. I work in a call center for a top 3 cable company and receive calls so I was very polite and not rude. I know sometimes you can get more done with honey then rudeness. I explained my issue and she said no. I even told her about what you did online and how to get ULD with moving lines around and she said no.
I decided to end that call, wait about 30 mins and call back. The 2nd person was super helpful. She was able to get everything straightend out and add my Unlimited Data back on my phone.
Pariyah, thank you very much for the help.

No problem. I've ran into quite a few of those "unhelpful/rude" reps. Call until you get someone willing and able to help!!
Glad you were able to get your problem fixed!!
