Beware, My wife and I recently purchased phones from Verizon. We both have data plans. We purchased a phone for our son that did not have a data plan. He noticed that he had internet. We thought he was able to pick up our wi fi at home like accessing the internet on his ipod touch. We were shocked to discover that he was charged 2.00 per megabyte.

What phone did you purchase for your son? Could you have blocked data access on his line?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The standard procedure for cell phone companies is to NOT advise (or make it clear to) the customer that not paying for a data package does not equate to blocking data access, that it defaults to pay as you go. You have to specifically ask to have data blocked, and you have to know to request for the block.
