I'm currently on my parents family plan, our 2 year contract was up in August. I just got a job in a different and want to be on my own plan.
My questions are:
A. Can I keep my old number?
B. There is no way my parents would be able to accompany me to the store, will this be an issue when it comes to taking me off their plan?
Any input would be appreciated!

A) yes you can keep your number
B) this might be a problem, but maybe not. Also even if you can do this if your credit isn't so hot you might have to pay a security deposit. This can be as high as $400.

If they are unable to go to the store with you, they will need to call customer service and authorize an assumption of liablity for you to assume the line

Hi Petersons!
Congratulations on your new job! You can definitely retain your mobile number with you get your own line. Your parents can go along with you to make the switch. Its call an "Assumption of Liability" or AOL and cane be done in store or over the phone. In the store, its actually easier with the original account owner there with you! Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

I am considering do this for my daughter. However, the costs seem huge. Currently she is on the 1400 minute plan, with unlimited text and data. As an additional line on the family plan, this costs roughly $9.99 for the line and $30 for the data package, so $40 total. If she goes on her own plan, assuming she needs to switch to Share Everything, (and she needs at least 2GB) that costs $40 for the line and $50 for the data, making a total of $90. (And yes, she will get unlimited minutes as a bonus, but that isn't all that valuable as we never get anywhere near our 1400!) Is that the only choice, or does the AOL allow some flexibility in keeping older plans, e.g. can she keep unlimited data at least? My guess is "No" but want to check.
