I'm making the move from AT&T to Verizon when the new iphone launches. I currently want to join my friend's Text and Talk 700 Share plan and want to know if this is possible for a new user. I'm just asking since the plan isn't being offered anymore and Verizon only offers the new Share Everything plan. Thanks guys for you help Smiley Happy!

If you were opening your own new account your options would be limited to the Share Everything plans released on June 28th. However your friends account is a prexisting account with the old plan structures still available to them. Essentially what would end up happening is they would open a new line of service with a temporary number. You would then port your number into Verizon from AT&T (AKA a LNP - Local Number Port) and join their plan structure.

Depending on your device the changes in monthly bill will varry. A basic phone with be just an additional $9.99 a month for access. A smartphone would have the $9.99 access and a $30 2GB Data Package. Opening that new line of service will have a one time $35 Activation Fee. They also have the option of moving up or down in their minute allowance to accomodate your addition to the account.

In short - Yes. You would be able to join their existing plan. The only stipulation would be if they already had 5 lines on the account. The Share Everything allows up to 10 lines on the same account while the old plans only allow up to 5.

Hope that helps.

I am not sure about the "temporary number" part, but basically you both should go to the Verizon store, and take care of it that way. Just remember, your friend "Owns" the account, so he can make changes to the account/lines at any time. As far as the cost, ritsbits is correct, it should be another account @ $9.99 plus taxes, and then any data plan charges, which would start @ $30.00 / 2 GB plan. Also, depending on his plan, if he has unlimited texting on all lines or not, he could charge you part of that also. Texting for all lines in the "Text and Talk 700: plan is $30.
