Travel pass trigger - Data off & Do not disturb on

Hi,  

If I turn OFF data and turn ON my do not disturb (with the exception of my emergency contact) will this keep my phone from triggering the Travel Pass?  (Unless, of course, my emergency contact calls me)

My guess is that any text or call that comes to your phone would probably trigger it.  Do Not Disturb is just a phone setting that stops the phone ringing/alerting you, but the "transaction" has occurred.

Have you considered keeping the phone in Airplane mode for the trip to prevent accidental roaming charges?

Hi Ann,

I have.  I wish I could but I need a way to be reached in a extreme emergency.   I even looked into buying a pager, lol.   

I may need to just pay for a month of international coverage, but I was hoping to avoid that.

You can consider purchasing a prepaid SIM card from the local carrier for your trip. It will mean a new temporary number for your contacts to use, but it will be less expensive than paying for Travel Pass. You have to weigh the pros and cons of your options for cellular service when traveling internationally.

Yes, travel pass can be expensive for a longer trip (although it is very convenient).  T-mobile has an international add with unlimited calls and text (in and between ~ 100countries) + 15 GB data for 30 days for just $50 (and a cheaper version with less data for few days).   That's five days of travel pass in most places, pity Verizon can't have something like that (I think they used to in the good old days, a WAY too cheap unlimited international data plan)
