I am using a MiFi Jetpack for my internet services. I have gone over my monthly limit in my Unlimited plan (something oxymoronic about that statement) and tried to download an Apple system upgrade that was 1.32 Gb. It literally took me two days to get the download done. Yes, I do understand after 15 Gb my download speed may go to less than 600 kbps. However, 80 - 150 Kbps and often < 50 Kbps is agonizingly slow. Definitely not something that engages me in company/product loyalty. I could live with that but what I have found abhorrent is the amount of times the downloads are dropped. Every few minutes I would get an "Error Connection to server lost" message. It is really frustrating to have to reconnect multiple times to get a download. Other downloads just get dumped leaving a partial download and I have to start over often never able to get the final download. I'm hoping there is something Verizon has to offer as slowing speeds are one thing but dropped download connections are truly problematic.

Are there no proper ISPs near by? Even my worst ISPs offered a better experience than this.

We live in Northern Minnesota in a semi rural area and there are several ISPs in the area but they don't serve our defined area. Things are getting closer however. The JetPack had worked okay but we are a streaming family so we are, i believe, coming to the end of its usefulness unless Verizon has an idea how to resurrect it without spending a wad of money.

Get satellite internet. Mobile internet is not mean to be home internet.

This.
Satellite is expensive, but companies like Excede do have unlimited Satellite Internet with some throttling. Keep a 4G LTE connection around for real time applications like gaming.
Alternatively, if you have good T-Mobile or AT&T service, those two carriers (and their resellers) have large data plans for those in rural America. AT&T I think has a 250GB package which is pretty affordable.
With that said 128kbps is quite useless. It starts to get into the territory where a TLS Handshake cannot be completed.

Hi Liina57, I understand the importance of being able to complete a download. There are many factors that can impact the download capability. Many files will terminate as an error lost simply if the download is not meeting the minimum speed requirements which vary by the developer. Can you tell me more about your jetpack usage? Is running over the data something that is occurring often?
