I saw this too, and its a nice option. You should have always been able to do Edge/Device Payments anyway.  Same deal for Verizon. It was sad when they ended that loophole.

Of course it would be EXCELLENT if you could just upgrade like normal, like you can for your 2GB smartphone lines. Do that Verizon, and I send you a very large edible arrangement!

If you are paying about $60 now then the extra $20 would be around $80-$85. If you consistently use less than 3GB then you can get the M plan. If it 3GB with unlimited talk and text and should be $57 before tax. If you use more than 3GB then you can do the L plan for 6GB would $70 before talk but if you're going to pay that much I would pay the $80 and have unlimited data

I'm not sure I understood the numbers you quoted above.

In my current plan, I'm paying $40 for 450 minutes, $30 for unlimited data, and then minus discounts + taxes, about $63. I'd pay another $20 per this fee.

For 3 GB of data, it seems that plan is $45. How much does the phone part of it cost? Or is that unlimited minutes, unlimited texting. Would I have to pay a $20 line fee? Trying to understand how you calculated $57 There's a possiblity here that I'd lose unlimited data, but get more minutes, and get texting. Could be a good deal.

My wife also pays $40 for 450 minutes and $30 for GB of data. She really wants texting and more minutes. We have separate plans.

If it was us on shared data, then 6 GB may make sense. Would we pay $20 x 2 per line in addition? That would be less than the $150 we pay right now

$45-18%=$36.90 plus the $20 line access fee is $56.90 before tax. That is for one phone.

With both you and your wife on the 6 GB plan, you would have a monthly data charge of $60 which would be eligible for your 18% corporate discount, bringing it to $49.20.

You would have $20 line access fees for any lines not CURRENTLY under contract. If either of your lines are under contract, the line access fee for that line(s) would be $40. Once your contracts expire, your line access fee would automatically drop to $20 on that line.

If no contracts, your total bill before taxes would be $89.20. Add $20/month for any line under contract. Since you have unlimited data, I assume you are not under contract. If your wife is not under contract either, then that would be your bill + $10 to $15 for taxes/fees.

This would include unlimited calling minutes and unlimited texting.

Thanks for the explanation, though I don't think Verizon applies the 18% on data anymore. Granted, if not data, what else is there? So maybe they do.

Wife's contract is up in January, so may wait until then because otherwise it's a $40 access fee vs $20, since I'm not ready switch yet. She really wants more minutes and texting, but she can wait. I am still thinking of whether to give my unlimited, even though as I said, I don't really use that much.

I've seen tons and tons of coverage on the internet about this price increase happening, but has anyone received notification from Verizon that they're actually doing this?  I haven't seen a notice on their website or my bills, but maybe missing it.

Yes, that is the ONLY portion of the Verizon Plan to which the discount is applied.

You say you pay $150/month NOW. This will increase to $170/month when the price increase goes thru. Even with your wife's $40 line access fee that brings your monthly cost to $109.20 + taxes/fees(~$125 TOTAL). So your logic is to stay with the $170/month bill instead of the $125/month because your wife's line access fee is $40 instead of $20?? I guess I don't see the reason to pay the additional $45/month until January.

It is customers like you that caused Verizon Wireless to increase the price of the unlimited data plan. 90 GB is an excessive amount of usage.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I have used my phone its fullest capability.

There was no "abuse" in my contract.

I was tethering before tether plans even existed. And before unlimited was

removed I bareley used 5gb a month. Verizon is price hiking because they

know what the future holds...more data growth.

And thanks to the phone modders thst offer rooting you can gain control

over your phone do what it is capable of instead of being told what to do.
