Verizon Trade In Program Screwed Me

I'm surprised to see that I'm not alone with this sentiment. I had though that with the way I was being treated by the customer service people at the trade in program that I must be the crazy one. But now, after looking through the many discussions here, I see that that isn't so. Verizon needs to change its trade in program and stop screwing over their customers. In my almost 5 years with the company I have never once considered switching wireless providers, but now I am seriously considering it. I don't understand the point of getting my hopes up with a $200 quote, only to give me $36! I went through the entire process necessary to make sure that Find My iPhone was turned off properly, I even called the Verizon Trade In representatives to have them walk me through it and make sure I had everything right before I sent my phone over. I was confident that it would turn out well. I was very wrong. I received an email not long after saying that indeed Find My iPhone was turned on still (allegedly) and that I would only be receiving $36 for my 16GB iPhone 4s. This was very upsetting for me because I was really counting on that money to help me out with this months bill that got jacked up after a separate representative went through a whole process that was supposed to save me money on my monthly bill and ended up actually raising it over $30 more. This whole cycle has been frustrating. So, I called the Trade In Reps to see what was the problem and try to get them to understand my point of view to which I was told she would escalate the issue and someone would call me within 10 days to help me out. Well I didn't receive a call, I got an email. Here is the conversation that followed via email (green is myself, red is Verizon):

Still no one has contacted me again, and my issue remains unresolved. I've never been one to post publically about issues with a company, but this is getting ridiculous. If you're considering trading in your phone with Verizon - DON'T! Best Buy offers good trade in deals, or sell it yourself on E-bay.

Yeah you aren't the only one that Verizon is trying to rip off.  They shorted me $124 on my IPhone trade-in.

They will short everyone on their iPhones. There is not one instance I know of where they paid out the quoted price.

So just to follow up, Verizon credited me with an additional gift card bringing the total credit to what it should have been to begin with.  - $200.00.   This took an effort on my part to make this happen, but they did get it right in the end.

I am going through this currently. Just received my $36 gift card when I was quoted $200 for my iphone 4s. They insist I didn't un-install find my iphone app, which wasn't on my phone. It is on my kids ipod. What did you have to do to get this straightened out? Currently I have emailed them, but that has been no help. I called and it was only an answering service. Apparently I should have checked reviews online before sending in my phone.

I'm really sorry you didn't get the amount you were quoted for your iPhone cclark222! I know that's a big difference. When your iPhone was active, did you have the Find My iPhone application? If so, you would've needed to go into that account and turn it Off. If you didn't, this could be why the value was depreciated. When you go into the Trade-In Program website, this information is on there as well.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,

Yup...same here for me. just traded in an iphone 4 in perfect condition and was quoted $100 for it.  Just got the email saying i would get $13!  They are totally screwing me.   I of course called and got some idiot who said they couldn't do anything for me and that my phone was listed as "broken"....they couldn't tell me anything more than that.  I have been w/ Verizon for over 10 years and I am pissed. Considering changing providers.  total b.s.  I am supposed to hear from the escalation dpt in 7-10 days.  I had better get the rest of the $100.
