Verizon Trade In Scam - Don't do it.

I fell for the Verizon trade it scam and they pulled the following.   They appraised my IPhone 4 at $100.00 on there trade in site.   They send you a padded envelope to return the phone with instructions on deactivating the find my IPhone feature and other pertinent facts. They also tell you that once you send in the phone they cannot return it.  Once they receive the phone they will appraise it and if the condition doesn't match your original description they will reduce the price.   I followed their instructions and deactivated the find my IPhone feature and restored the phone to factory defaults. I sent the phone in and received an email a few days later that the find my IPhone feature wasn't turned off and they dropped the price to $18.00.  I called and complained and they will look into it, and a few days later received a email they are staying with the original claim of the feature not being off.   They won't return the phone, your stuck with their decision.    I confirmed with Apple that once you do the factory reset the find my IPhone feature is off.   So why is Verizon saying it's not when I did both.   Because they got a IPhone 4 in excellent shape for $18.00.    The biggest mistake Verizon is making is treating a long time customer with multiple lines terrible.   They also picked a bad time to do this as T-Mobile will pay up to $650.00 a line to switch to their service.  They offer to pay off the Early Termination Fees, up to $350.00 a line and offer up to $300.00 per device to trade in.  I will wait a few more days and see if Verizon tries to right this wrong or they lost a long time good customer to T-Mobile.

I wish I would have seen this before I fell for the same scam when I bought my iPhone 6+. I got $36 for my iPhone 4s, with the message "Activation lock not deactivated," when that's totally not true. I would have just kept the phone if I knew I was going to get scammed. I feel so stupid. Smiley Sad Verizon Wireless Customer Support

I got hit by the $200 iphone 6 recycle bait-and-switch scam.   Diligently followed all the instructions provided by Verizon Wireless and got $200 downgrade to $36 because of "Activation lock not deactivated" .  Contacted corporate office and they offered a compromised offer of $100 which I refused.  Anyway reported the incident to BBB and California Attorney General's office.  I'll let the pros handle this.

Update:  As of 10/15/2014, Verizon Wireless credited $200 to my account.   Now I got $200 + $36 gift card for my $200 iphone 6 recycle trade in offer.   Personally I wish Verizon would've made this process a bit smoother so I didn't have to go through all the hoops.

I am betting that Verizon farms this return process out to a 3rd party company and just reports back whatever they feel like - unless someone complains over it.

I to got scammed by verizon. They told me my google pixel xl 2 was worth $400 if it was undamaged and worked properly with no cosmetic issues. My phone was in excellent shape with a battery that would still hold it's charge for two days and all they gave me was $20. I would never have traded it in for $20. Once they have the phone your pretty much messed up so I wanted to warn other people do not trust verizon when it comes to trade in value.

As a valued customer, your concerns are our concerns too. We certainly want you to enjoy participating in our Device Trade-In Program and to receive the assessed value for your traded in device. We've noted your reference about not receiving the trade in value you were expecting. I'd be dissappointed too.

We'd like to help address this matter for you by visiting our website at http://spr.ly/6609ydItx.

Once you've accessed the site, scroll down to "Troubleshooting" and review the information provided at #2 (I got an email saying I'd be receiving less credit than I expected for trading in my device. Why?") We're confident that this information will help. Thanks - RobertC_VZW
