Very disappointed in Verizon Wireless

I have been a customer of Verizon Wireless for over 25 years, many years with four lines. We also have FIOS internet and tv. It's time for us to think about upgrading our phones so I went on the VW website only to find deals for new lines. I understand the need to attract new customers and am not looking for freebies, but there are no deals at all for current customers, even long-term ones like me.

We are currently month-to-month so it would be easy to switch carriers and get similar deals elsewhere. I don't want to do that and I would think VW wouldn't want us to do that. But I don't understand - I am willing to take on a two-year contract as a new customer would, so what exactly is the difference other than the new customer might jump ship again in two years but my track record indicates I would remain with VW?

To say that I'm not feeling valued by VW at this time is an understatement.

Do you get free groceries for shopping at the same store for 10 years? Does the power company give you a free month of power? Any perks for having the same water company? Cell phone service is no different than any other utility or service.

If you pay for x amount of minutes, text and data, all a cell phone company is obligated to do is give you just that. My account is a former Alltel one and don't share this same sense of entitlement. Sure, I could go to Tmobile, but I have a plan not offered to new Verizon customers and would actually spend more for worst service if I switched.

In fact, last two phone upgrades were unlocked phones outside of Verizon. I pay them for a service than they are providing. People complaining about new line promos without looking at the bigger picture.

Your analogy doesn’t hold as the grocery store etc.  are not offering significant discounts just to new customers. Their prices are the same for everyone.

I would agree with you, except that all of the US carriers charge outlandish prices for Internet service that is garbage. You can travel to south or central America and pick up a sim card for $5 with unlimited internet service for an entire month! No caps, no throttling, decent speeds. The situation is similar in Europe. The US pays triple or more than other major countries and gets 1/4 of the service, if it even works properly at all. Verizon is probably the best out of the big 3, but at the prices we're paying, I would expect Verizon to be very accommodating of their customers' needs.

Dang, that's horrible. So much for Verizon "reaching out".

Hello, XYZ27. We're very sorry for any delay in response and for the concerns related to promotions for new devices. We appreciate you as a long time customer and we will be more than happy to review your new device options. What are the makes and models of the new devices that you are interested in upgrading to? Do you happen to have a device that you are interested in trading in such as your current devices? If so, what are the devices that you would like to trade-in?  BrettA_VZW
