What support for rural customers

Wondering why none of the carriers offer rural customers a plan for residential internet. My idea would be for a "single" line within their package of unlimited data. As an example within the next year I'll be building my home out in the country. The only practical internet is using Verizon or if another carrier beats them to the punch a plan where I can get a decent amount of data per month. For myself I use a lot more data than what I have on my current plan as I am required to work out of my home from time to time which is more than checking email. I need to log into my network at work and I can be on the system for hours at a time. I also know that there are major government incentives for companies to accommodate rural customers. As far as network capacity I would believe the carriers years ago but with newer technology I don't buy into that they would run out of capacity. And they would gain many more accounts. Currently there isn't anybody else except satellite providers out there who do support rural customers. I'm to far away for DSL plus DSL is to slow for my needs. Not enough customers to convince cable to come out there. Fiber..... yeah right. Satellite to much latency and too expensive.

Thanks.

I wish you would have read my message more carefully. It's not about the devices as I already know about the home connection etc. It's about the DATA. I am a Network specialist and use my system(s) to remote into my work network. In any given month I can use about 50 gigabytes in a month. Because I have cable at my current address that's not a problem as it's unlimited data. But to use that kind of data on Verizons network would at least triple my internet cost. To clarify I would like to see for residential users (especially rural) for a single line a separate unlimited or at least something in the 75 to 100 gigabytes at a "reasonable" cost. With the incentives from the government why not? I won't have the resources when I move to our new residence to use unlimited data and I can see that this will severely affect what I can do for my work. Please no more canned statements like you did before. I'd like to have an honest dialog as to the merits of this proposal.

Apparently you’ve never lived in the country. I was born and raised in the country. Can’t stand cities. My work is what I’m good at and have been for several decades. Yes decades. Now I’m getting close to retirement but still have a few years left before retirement and we’re going back to the peace and quite that the country has. Not listening to idiot drivers racing up and down the street. People yelling outside your windows. The crime that goes with living in the city. You get the picture? Do I need internet? The short answer is YES. The long answer is that  just because I or others want to live in the country shouldn’t mean having to give up, or having to severely curtail ones interest that the internet provides. So why can’t rural customers have unlimited data? Is that only for city folks? Are rural customers less in need of or don’t deserve decent internet connections? I hope that enlightens you more.

you're trying to have your cake and eat it too, but Verizon Wireless won't discount your cake due to your circumstances.

Besides going with a mobile carrier - have you considered looking around for a small WISP? Many exist in underserved areas who supply Point to Point Microwave service, or will service locations with unlicensed equipment (eg: P2P Wi-Fi).

If you provide a ZIP Code, we might be able to help locate another option for you besides dealing with the awfully capped solution of "LTE Connected."

Additionally, if you are buddies with someone near to where you're moving, with line of sight, who can get DSL or Cable Internet, see if they would be willing to set up Point to Point wireless with you, and perhaps order another circuit in exchange for payment. Ubiquiti sells some pretty good equipment for long range wireless that could be set up on both ends.

Actually it doesn't enlighten me.

You want the comforts of the city while living in the country.

It doesn't work like that.

Perhaps you should weigh the pros and cons of what's really more important before moving. That would be the practical thing to do.

Best wishes.

It would seem only reasonable if your employer REQUIRES you to work from your home they should pay for your ability to do so.

Verizon is not REQUIRING you to work from home but you are expecting Verizon to make concessions for you to do so instead of the entity actually REQUIRING you to do so.

Not looking for my cake but hoping Verizon might make a coo and beat the

other carriers to a major advancement in the war of who's got the best

deal. I already know that Verizon has one of the best networks but the

other carriers are doing a lot to promote there higher data plans.
