Why cant Verizon offer unlimited data plan like Sprint does ?

I prefer sprint unlimited data plan because Im deaf and I have to use data only. I have Videophone and it uses alot data. Unfortunely, Sprint signal around my area is poor and Verizon is only one i can get full bars and 4G speed and I am limited to 5GB monthly for overpriced $50 which is pretty pathetic. It would be great if Verzion would get rid of limited data plans and provide unlimited data plans around $50 !

The following came from Sprint's website http://unlimited.sprint.com/?INTCID=TSC:Plans:Unlimited:052212

"Sprint reserves the right, without notice, to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if off-network roaming usage in a month exceeds (1) voice: 800 minutes or a majority of minutes; or (2) data: 300MB or a majority of KB."

At least Verizon isn't lying about data being unlimited when it's not.

Be glad Verizon doesn't offer unlimited data plans like Sprint does...

I am currently a Sprint customer. On 3g, I get ~.5mbps download speeds. This is roughly twice as good as most Sprint customers receive. On "4g" (wimax), I get ~5mbps, which is decent, but I also only get .5mbps upload speeds, which is still awful. Then I travel literally 1000 feet and I'm back on 3g. Seriously, their 4g coverage is the spottiest I've ever seen, and I used it in Seattle, WA, which you would think would be a major metro area.

I'd rather have a data limit and be able to use it than have no limit and barely be able to use it. I'm on wifi most of the time anyway.

so whats your point ? ?  my usage is around 9gb to 14gb per month for $42 with taxes. never once got stopped by sprint with any of those stuff you mentioned. 5gb for $50 isnt good deal. more like 15gb or 20gb for $50 would be okay deal, compare to charter and cable internets that goes alot more gb usage for alot less $$$$...

i go to town where theres 4g signal and it works great as verizon, only problem is im too far from those sprint cell tower. that doesnt answer to my questions still...

have you considered using wifi while at home? i believe these networks are designed to sort of be a second supply of data for mobile devices. you referenced charter and cable internet. those are built for extremely heavy use, which is why they are cheaper for much more data (hard wired).

thats what i have, mifi hotspot with verizon. Videophone requires higher speed like 4G and it is data hog. I agree with you, I would have gotten charter or att cable but they are not available in my rural area, satellite internet costs too much. I have very limited options and thats what gets me. I have to keep checking my usage and not going over otherwise it would add $10 for each additional 1gb which i hated it.

Yeah......its pretty tough in rural areas that have no cable internet. I foget sometimes that not everyone can just pay $40 and have unlimited wifi.

The limit you mention only applies to Roaming, not to normal use on Sprint's towers/systems.

The fact that their off-network roaming area is larger than their native coverage would still make that a huge problem for those not near a major highway or city.  Plus their building penetration is junk.
