My Mom is elderly and in order to save money when with the home connect service. She doesn't understand voice mail, so we set up the phone to use her answering machine. However, the other night, while she was on the phone, someone called her, and the message went to her voice mail. How can I stop that from happening?

VzW voice mail takes over after 30 seconds, there is no way to change this (disabling vzw voicemail causes it to route to a generic "unavailable" message instead after 30 seconds), so the only way to have an answering machine work is for it to pick up the call before 30 seconds.
