env touch ring tones question

Does anyone know how to transfer midi or mp3 files from your computer to your phones memory card  & have your phone recognize them?  I put some midi files on my card in the sound or music file, can't recall from memory but either way, my phone doesn't see anything but the pictures I placed on the card.  I was hoping to be able to do this without having to send myself uploaded tunes via text messages which are 25 cents a piece to send.

We cannot post links in here. But a couple suggestions. Buy the music kit for your phone and it will convert it. Or google exatly what your trying to do should give you a point in right direction.

Music files can be in the following format: aac, m4a, mp3 and midi. The files can not be protected files, or they may not work.
Furthermore I highly recommend you format your card in the phone prior to putting anything on the card. Files placed in the music folder can not be used for ringtones by the way.
If you are planning to just listen to music vs. use anything for ringtones, use the music folder. It can handle the mp3 tags as well.
Let me know if you need any clarification

Actually, I thought I had it all figured out for ringtones last night, but not quite.  I discovered I'd accidentally put my midi files in the music folder instead of the sounds folder.  Once I transfer them to the right folder on my sd card, my phone could see them.  I then tried to do a save as ringtone, and the phone said it was set, but I can't see the newly saved ringtones listed.  I even tried doing a save as ringtone with a preset train midi which came on the phone.  It doesn't show up on the list either.  I'm stumped.  Seems like it should work.  I'm about to call Verizon tech support.  I know I can set a text attachment no problem.  If anyone has some clue as to why this isn't working, please pass it on.  I thought it might be a size issue, but the train sound is pretty small and that doesn't show up either.

The only way that I have actually got the option to set as ringtone on mine was to compose a pix message to yourself, attach the sound you want from the sounds folder, then send it. Upon receipt of the pix message you should be able so set it to ringtone. That's the way I have been doing it for years and it has always worked
