Mkturner, we certainly do not want to lose you as a customer. Let’s work this out. Why are you looking to cancel? Unless you have additional lines on the account; porting your number(s) out cancels your service.

don't cancel before port out complete...call your new carrier they will start and finish process and once its completed it will cancel on V by itself .

Simply amazing.......so I did what Alberto said, and just ported my numbers over to at&t.....on April 6th.

Today, I got a bill from Verizon for two months worth of missed payment.........I didnt owe anything to start with, I owned both phones outright..........so I guess just porting my numbers over, didnt actually do anything.

Someone from Verizon please reply to this post.@

Was your VZW service governed by some sort of contract with an ETF?

Not that I know of. They told me when I spoke to them in January, it was a month to month since we had no contract and the phones were paid for by me.

Just to be sure, pull a recent bill or two as well as the original documents  (if available) and check for anything that talks about termination fees. If nothing, Verizon Wireless would need to explain what the charge is for.

Yep you're right. There is an ETF applied. How can i be charged an ETF for something that is month to month?

I would have to read over the paperwork to see exactly what it says. Generally, an ETF is accessed for premature ending of a 2 year contract account so, it looks like Verizon Wireless shows you under some sort of contract.

Mkturner, it's definitely not standard to be charged an ETF unless still under contract at the time of termination of services. Let's see if we can figure this out. Typically, the contract ends exactly two years following the purchase of your last new device. Do you know when that was? The only thing that will prolong a contract is if services were suspended at any point without billing as the contract does extend for the number of days in which there were no charges assessed.
