"Data Roaming USA & Canada" vs "Pay as You Go Global Data & Std. Voice"

I'm traveling abroad, and it looks like the "Pay as You Go Global Data & Std. Voice" plan is a good option for my HTC One. I only want it for emergencies. As I checkout to add this plan to my phone, Verizon automatically tries to cancel my "Data Roaming USA & Canada" plan.

Why do they try to cancel it? And what am I losing by switching to the pay as you go plan? They're both listed as $0.

re13579, we hope that you have a fabulous vacation! No worries, you can keep your current data plan while internationally traveling. However, we recommend that you add the $25.00 100 MB plan to use while internationally roaming overseas. If you choose not to add it, you will be billed $20.48 per MB when accessing data on your Smartphone. For more information regarding using your phone while traveling, click http://vz.to/n9PFe9

Don't take a Verizon phone with you.  They will rip you off blind.  One week in the caribbean and i kept my phone off almost every moment of it.  And when I did turn it on I put it in airplane mode.  Get home and I was wacked $200 for $0 roaming fees, 1 text message and .22mb of background data.  They're crazy. Run to AT&T!!!!

If you travel use T Mobile.  Data roaming is included.  Verizon is robbery.

Not everyone has access to a local T-Mobile tower in the USA.

Then use verizon

When traveling get a domestic carrier prepaid or don't use verizon.

I have been verizon customer 11 years. My comments are for people who travel
