returning rebate money??

ok so here's the deal, i was with verizon wireless for 5 months. To start off my service with them, i did the promotion where you buy one s7 and get the other one free. Long story short, i finally got my rebate, used it to pay off one of my phone while using cash to pay off the other. So, good i got both phones paid off. Now i can finally leave verizon. I expected a last statement from them, but with it i was charged a ridiculous amount! $1064 for a device payment buyout charge, and $672 for line 1 and $672 for line 2. I called customer service, finally got a hold of them and they told me that the $672 charge is because i cancelled verizon service before month 6. Therefore, I have to pay back the rebate money. But the thing is i only got one rebate card, yet i am charged for two??? The representative couldn't help me further and tells me to go to a corporate store. Someone please find me the fine print of where i have to return rebate money.

MAIXIO24, we're sad to you go. For a limited time, you could buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 and get a second "one" free via a prepaid Visa card reimbursement. Both devices are intially purchased with a device payment plan. One device must be a new line of service; the other device can be an upgrade or a new line of service. After receiving reimbursement for the price of the free device via the prepaid Visa card, you would still be responsible for the device payments on that device. Both lines must remain active for 6 months. If you cancel service earlier than that, then the price of the free device is charged back to the your account. I have read and reread through all 3 terms and conditions associated with Verizon. The rebate terms, the customer agreement terms, and the device payment terms. No where does it mention that rebate money is to be returned if service is cancelled before 6 months. I did not enter a 2 yr contract either.

The 60 day thing is true. I was told that and seen it in writing when I signed up. They aren’t gonna give u a bunch of rebate money so u can cancel service after u receive it. That would be stupid on their part. However, when I signed up I was told my rebate would automatically come in the mail in 8 weeks and I specifically asked him if he was sure I didn’t have to do anything and he said no. I did some research and seen that I needed a promo code and had to enter it to receive the rebate cards. I called customer service and they gave me my codes and I was told it was lucky I called because my promo code would of expired in 3 days and I wouldn’t of received it at all. So my advice when dealing with Verizon or anyone offering promos and rebates, do some research, read everything especially the fine print and never expect anything for free without stipulations.
