The SIM cards are not compatible (they are different sizes).  There also is an issue with the voice mail system (it's different for an iPhone); your friend with the iPhone will lose any saved messages.  Once you have the correct SIM cards, you should be able to activate the phones on-line, but under the circumstances it might be easier at your local Corporate Verizon store.

There shouldn't be any big issues doing this switch however the store might charge ya for the Sim cards make ya pay something for the recovery of what they did Performing the Switch but if there's a Cost involved it shouldn't be a big one and just for being Nice the store might just do it for Free.. But i would go to a Corp. Store as Tiki advised.. b33

Drotondi, this is an excellent question. You can process this equipment change online at My Verizon, http://bit.ly/xB4iTc However, you will need a new sim card for the Samsung Galaxy III device when activating it on your friend's mobile number. You may contact our customer service department at 800-922-0204 to request a sim card or visit your local store to retrieve a sim card and process this equipment change for you.
