The other day I sent an email to a friend with a Comcast email address. I received a response back from someone else with a gmail account. The from line was thisunknow person@gmail.com on behalf of my friend at Comcast. How could this happen?? Does it imply one or the other's email account has been compromised. If so, what should we do other than change our passwords.

Your friend should check their email settings. It sounds like they have their Comcast email fowarded to gmail but messed up the fowarding address.
Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. If they indeed did as you suggest how did a stranger's gmail account receive the message?
