Does VERIZON.NET email address remain active if VERIZON is not my ISP?

Hi,

I am trying to determine if my @verizon.net email address (and aliases) will remain active if I no longer have Verizon as my ISP.  I may be moving out of the area and would like to keep the email address active.

According to the Verizon chat support representative, I will be able to access my Verizon.net email address even if Verizon is no longer my ISP.
