Email User Name
Darrell_Pearson

Over the past few days I have been trying to setup Verizon.net email accounts.  I was mostly succesful except for one problem.  The user name {edited for privacy} is assigned as one of our sub accounts, but it seems to be exclusivley assigned to a Verizon hotspot and thus can't be used for email purposes.  We never ordered a hotspot and didn't even knew it existed until a day or so ago.  Called Verizon today to cancel this hotspot in hopes it would free up {edited for privacy} as a usable user name so I could setup a Verizon email address for that user name (please check our user sub accounts), but I was told, 1) can't cancel the hotspot (we don't need or want it), and 2) even if we could cancel the hotspot, I still can't use {edited for privacy} as a sub account (even though it already is a sub account).  Hope there is someone at Verizon who can look at this mess and see if there is a solution, after all spending $270.00/mo. for FIOS, internet and phone should mean something to someone at Verizon.

Hope someone in the Verizon nether world can help us with is problem.

Just to check, you did check the box that this sub account has email? You can check this if you log in with main user Id and go to manage sub accounts. There is a box you need to have checked to allow sub account to have email and fios tv online.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, while I was on with tech support i tried all options, but it would not allow me to get past the user name box.  The tech finally discovered that the user name I was trying to use is already one of my sub accounts, but I couldn't see or use it for email because Verizon decided on its own to assigned it eclusivley to the wireless hotspot.  That was a complete surprise because I had never heard of a wireless hotspot on our Verizon FIOS account.  Apparently, Verizon took it upon itself to setup this hotspot, take one of out user names, and now refuses to relaese the user name - even if they could cancel the hotspot which the tech says is not possible.  The tech essentially said that user name is forever dead as far as using it for email is concerned.  One of the many problems I have with that is, these are just computers, they do what people tell thm to do - no more, no less.  To take the position that this user name is forever dead beacuse it has been improeprly assigned to a hotspot makes no sense.  Clearly, it is a Verizon policy decsision and our account is now suffering because of that policy decision.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Hi Darrell_Pearson,

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.
