Email on iPhone and PC don't sync

What a bummer to find out my email on my iPhone and PC don't sync up. (Especially coming from my little LG Xenon which did sync up with my PC.) I understand this is a Verizon POP server issue--any news on if/when they will switch to IMAP?  Anyone know any work arounds so I don't have to manage two email accounts?
