I have had my email setup through outlook 2007 for a long time and while I have had issue here and there it hasn't gone on this long, nearly 24 hours. I have changed my password and deleted and created a new account in outlook in an attempted to fix it but it has not fixed it. Could use some help.
BTW I am on the old yahoo.verizon server and have been for 10 years so I am using the correct incoming and outgoing mail servers
error
Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR [AUTH] (#AUTH003) Incorrect username or password.
outlook settings
Account type: pop3
Incoming server: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net port 995
Outgoing server: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net port 465
"this server requires an encrypted connection" is checked

ok here is what I have changed to get it somewhat working
I added the @verizon.net to logon information user name in my account setting of outlook. That seemed to help with the error of wrong user name/password.
for outbound emails under more settings/advance I had to set "use the following type of encrypted connection " to SSL
both of these I did not have to do before the issue started.
Also it seems like there is an issue with yahoo servers because even test emails that I sent early this morning from another account are either not there or are coming in hours later. I am checking this on the yahoo site.

Starting yesterday could not send or receive verizon email getting the message could not find Pop3 server. Tried everything reloading settings, resetting network etc etc. Turns out it was a Norton update that killed off my verizon email. As soon as I turned off Norton (based on a helpful Verizon Tech's suggestion) everything started working

@Dallas22 wrote:@my verizon email stopped working in outlook. 2010. I had not made any changes. After reading the forum I updated my username to include @verizon.net
I checked the settings and they matched the recommended settings.
It is still not working and the password dialogue box keeps popping up
Any other ideas. The verizon agent was useless. She told me it was a problem with outlook]
All suggestions would be appreciated
@IF you are using the Yahoo/Verizon email interface then you need the @verizon.net. Otherwise do not add it to the signon.
IF not using Yahoo/verizon
outgoing is smtp.verizon.net port 465 SSL plain text password
incoming is pop.verizon.net port 995 SSL plain text password
If using yahoo the server names are different
outgoing is outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net port 465 SSL plain text password
incoming is incoming.yahoo.verizon.net port 995 SSL plain text password

Hello: I looked at the solution to this problem, and I already have the @verizon.net added to my user name plus the server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checked. The server names and ports are correct. Email just stopped working out of the blue. Help! Thanks!

Has any of the Verizon Yahoo email settings changed? My wife and I cannot log into our email accounts on smart phones or Outook 2013. We have not changed passwords, and can still access email via web. It has to be something in the settings that has changed. The existing settings are:
incoming.yahoo.verizon.net
outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
pop: 995
smtp: 465
smtp requires authentication (use same settings as incoming mail server)
SSL encryption required.
These settings have worked for years. Something has changed.

Thanks for the reply. I've already tried the SMTP and POP server settings, and they don't work. Even though the change was announced a year ago, We have three verizon yahoo accounts that were working up until yesterday evening in Outlook and on smart phones. Neither old, nor new POP / SMTP settings work.
I won't go into how very little I think of Verizon, and it's overall non-customer service.
Thanks again for trying. I'm presently setting up a gmail account.

You are not alone. Gmail can't pick up my Verizon mail, neither can my computer (Thunderbird). My settings haven't changed in a long time. Verizon broke something and can't (or won't) fix it. This problem has been on and off for at least a month. I'd cancel Verizon, but the alternatives are not much better. Aren't monopolies great?

Same problem here. Started yesterday at exactly 6:00 pm EST. My account ended up locked because of all the failed connection attempts. This morning I tried using the various on-line tools for over a half an hour and didn't get anywhere so I called support. I gave the first tech support guy all of my information except my blood type but in the end he wouldn't help me because i couldn't remember the answer to the "What is my favorite food" security question that was created years ago possibly by my wife. He put me on hold and transferred me to someone who could unlock my account. It ended up being some generic customer service person who couldn't help me at all. She had no idea when I was transferred to her. She put me on hold and transferred me to someone who could help. The first person was speaking a foreign language. SERIOUSLY. I ended up getting bumped to someone who could speak englist. This lady claimed she couldn't hear me and hung up because she didn't want to tie up the line. Over an HOUR wasted when I should have been getting ready for work. If I could have reached through my cell phone and grabbed her throat.....anyway I called back and went through the same automated prompts only to get a message that they were having a problem with the email service and it would be resolved tomorrow. Really? I was on the phone for over an hour and no one could tell me that? Worst customer service EVER.

markperez's suggestion worked. I added the @verizon.net to logon user name in my account setting of outlook. Works like a charm. Would have been nice of them to notify us of this required change.

Yahoo for Verizon users also had changes but they are different.
See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/verizon/mail/ymail/basics/mail-12859445.html
And yes there appears to be a new problem with this interface.
Incoming mail server settings
- POP server: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net
- Use SSL
- Port: 995
- Use the setting to leave mail on the server if you also want to access Verizon Yahoo Mail messages in a browser.
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings
- SMTP server: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
- Use SSL
- Port: 465
- Use authentication
- Account Name/Login Name: Your Verizon Yahoo Mail ID (your email address without the "@verizon.net" domain, for example, "jo.bloggs")
- Email Address: Your Verizon Yahoo Mail address (for example, "jo.bloggs@verizon.net")
- Password: Your Verizon Yahoo Mail password

This fixed my email reception problem. As stated in another post. Change your username to username@verizon.net. As soon as I did that 285 emails over 1 days worth were almost immediatly received. My old setings worked for years with Outlook, then nothing. I will never understand why verizon kept the change a secret

OMW I searched for hours and just adding the @verizon.net did the trick!!
I was ready to change to yahoo ID and give up on verizon. I still might as I'm sick of the continuous problems like this that spring up when you really don't have time.

My windows live wasn't receiving emails for the last two days (all of a sudden). I just added @verizon.net to my email user name under the servers tab, and all my emails instantly loaded into my windows live mail inbox.
