Hot to retrieve emails from a recent closed verizon email account

We recently moved and had Verizon Fios TV and internet installed in our new home, then we just closed out the old verizon internet account, however we did not get the saved emails from that account.

Is there a way we can reinstate that account to retrieve the emails? We have important email documentation we need to have.

When I switched from Comcast to VZ about 5 or 6 months ago, I cancelled the old accounts and set up forwarding addresses, etc.  However it turned out the the old Comcast email accounts have remained active long after I cancelled the service (I don't actually use them, but they still exist).  Perhaps that's the case with Verizon.  Just guessing, of course.  Good luck.
