Missing Left Column issue

Once the problem was seemingly fixed returning the Compose, Send, Save Draft, Delete, etc functions, I  only

have PLAIN TEXT available....RICH TEXT/formatting is not available for e-mails.

Assure you, I did not change.  Any advice

At least in my compose window for Verizon webmail, you have the option just about the body that  either sets to plain text or rich text.  If you are in plain text, the option says rich text (i.e switch to rich text) and if you are in rich text it says plain text.
