I tried to change to the new email settings on Entourage. It wouldn't accept them. I don't want to change my email application. Has anyone else successfully changed to the new settings on Entourage?

Is this the proecdure you followed? http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=14519
Are these the new settings:
Server | Current Setting | New Setting | SSL Enabled | Port |
POP3 Server | incoming.verizon.net | pop.verizon.net | YES | 995 |
SMTP Server | outgoing.verizon.net | smtp.verizon.net | YES | 465
|
Do you get an error when you try to change the settings?

I am having the same problem. I've changed everything to the new stuff you indicate. When I try to send a test message the message sits in my outbox for a few minutes. then Entourage tells me the server has timed out. I've looked every where on these forums and it doesn't look like anyone using Entourage has been able to fix this problem. I've changed the settings on my iPhone successfully, so it's not me.
I even deleted my account in Entourage and set it up manually with all the new settings and now I get this:
and unknow error (-17199) occured.

Verizon basically does not support any email client anyone uses - I was just told that on the phone so we are all out of luck. They just dumped a year of email on me so I really want to get my stuff out of there. If any one knows how, PLEASE TELL US!

I use Entourage for Mac and just made the new email settings work by doing the following:
Under Account Settings
After changing to the pop and smtp incoming/outgoing addresses,
Click on Advanced sending/receiving options
Under Receiving: check first box-This POP service requires SSL, and also enter the port number (995)
Under Sending: check SMTP service requires SSL, and also check Override port, and enter number 465
It should work; did for me.

Hi,
Sorry to butt into your thread, but I'm having the same issues and want to solve them. The difference is that I use the Yahoo portal, so I didn't have to change my server settings. All I have to change are the ports and making sure I'm using SSL.
If anyone using the Yahoo portal and a desktop email client like Thunderbird reads this thread: Have you been able to get the new ports (995 and 465) to work, and if so, how?
