I am experiencing the same issue with my verizon based email account. As of Monday 2/8 around 9pm, I am getting
We couldn't sign in to your POP3 server. Please make sure your username and password are correct.
- pop.verizon.net 995, requires ssl, leave a copy of message on the server
- my validated user id and password,
- smtp.verizon.net port 465, required ssl, and use same username and password to send and receive
The above settings are the same I have had in place for years. Now it stopped working on verizon's end, why?

I have the same issue and it started at the same time.
I have wasted so much time trying to get the Outlook.com add account - send and receive for my Verizon POP mail working again. Is it an Outlook.com problem or a Verizon POP mail problem?
All my settings are correct per the Verizon's recommendation and the auto population by Outlook.com.
What happened and why is it necessary?

Please see my reply in an alternate post about what support told me (don't want to duplicate the message here)

Has anyone received any updates on this? I have been having the same issues since Monday night using Outlook on my PC's, iphone and ipad. I can see an outage for a day or so, but we are going on 4 days and I need my email?!?!

I have the same issue. Outlook stopped receiving Verizon e-mails a couple of days ago. Tried changing both Verizon and Microsoft passwords, using alternate bwowsers, etc. Nothing worked. Hope Verizon resolves this quickly.

I have been having the same issues since sometime Tuesday night - still not working with outlook as of a few minutes ago. This is how I access my Verizon account on all my iOS devices since it is not imap and it has worked fine until that time - all server and port information and passwords are correct - even changed my password and that didn't help.
There is obviously a broader issue here - Verizon should address and update.

Verizon is having issues with POP clients accessing their Email Servers. They advised me access my email via webmail.verizon.com or use the MyFios app to access my email on mobile devices. That has worked for me so far.

Incoming and outgoing Outlook email suddenly stopped working on 2/10/16. Verizon techs say "under maintenance." Two techs assisted remotely to be sure my email was set up correctly (it was/is). Phone calls only yield canned answer about maintenance and that it would be up and running next day. I've had two "next days" that didn't come. Verizon webmail works, of course (of course), but I want to use Outlook. Has anyone else run into this? Thanks.

Yes, my Outlook has several email accounts and sub accounts, and each one of them has had issues the past few days, but so far not today for the first time. I've had constant issues with the passwords. I would have to close out of Outlook, and then it would work but sporadically. And yes, all was fine on Webmail, not on Outlook.

Have been having very similar problem since Friday 2/12, using Thunderbird.
Can contact pop server. Tells me number of messages on server, then says "no messages to download". Downloads a single 2/12 message each time you try (same message).
Worse yet: Have transitioned to AOL web mail, but it will not SEND messages. Verizon web mail is vanishing shortly.

Once they switch over your account on Verizon webmail disappears. You are given a Special link over to AOL for you to signup
I use Thunderbird and have not seen the problems you mentioned. All my messages are downloaded each time it connects.
I also tried AOL Web mail compose as well as normal Thunderbird and android email, and had no trouble sending.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to restart getting my Verizon emails using Outlook? Since Feb 9, I have been unable to receive any of my Verizon emails.

I have the same problem receiving mail in outlook.com. This has been occuring since 2/9/2016. Called Verizon and Tech connected with my computer and we both checked settings which were correct.
Trying to talk to a live person on Outlook is fruitless and their support techs are useless, suggesting different solutions which do not work.
I have checked forums on Outlook and Verizon and there are numerous subscribers experiencing the exact problems and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer or solution.
Does anyone have any answers?

Mine has been down since Feb 13. Log in to Yahoo, my email, and it sends me to VerizonWebmail. Which brings up a Yahoo page that says Server is Unavailable. Try back later. Same since then. Someone called me yesterday and said techs said it would be fixed today. GUESS WHAT....THEY LIED!!! Many have the same problem since last week. They've totally screwed everything up trying to convert to AOL Webmail. They don't know what they're doing. If they don't fix it soon, Verizon is going to have a MASS EXODUS!! They're not the only game in town.

YAHOO users seemed to have a problem. Probably caused by switch to AOL servers from Verizon servers.

I've been having the same problem with Outlook.com as everyone else. Yesterday I set up POP email access through my Gmail account. So far it is working. There is some difference between Gmail and Outlook. Perhaps a security certificate?
I would prefer to use Outlook, but I hope this information helps others!

Unlikely that Verizon will post a response in the forums unless the Technical people reuest a notice to be put up. The Tech people do not typically read the forums.
