When I change the server settings according to the instructions in an email recently sent out (Feb 22, 2013), the mail in my inbox disappears. If I change the settings back, the mail comes back. Is this normal, or can it be avoided?

Well, I feel dumb. I panicked and didn't wait even one minute. If you wait a minute, all the mail comes back.
