I have Verizon Fios and use the Windows Mail client to send and receive my Verizon.net emails on my laptop. My last email received was at 1:13 a.m. and I haven't been unable to send or receive emails this morning. I virtual chatted with a Verizon rep after sitting on hold for nearly an hour waiting to speak with someone on the tech support line. She confirmed my settings and then told me the client servers are down and that I can use the Verizon website for email but that Verizon needs "a few hours" to fix the problem. Several minutes after closing the chat, I received a text with a repair ticket notification informing me of Verizon's commitment to fixing the problem by 5 p.m. on 5/23 (a bit more than a few hours). I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a problem too? I live in the Philadelphia area. Thanks.

My email in Windows Mail is starting to work again - checking messages very slowly when I click Send/Receive but it is working and messages are coming in. It appears that the problem is being worked on/possibly resolved, hopefully soon.

Thank you for posting this. There's a long thread in DSLReports about this outage, and as usual, nothing on the VZ website about it! Your post contains the first information from VZ we've seen. THREE DAYS???? That's ridiculous.

Long Island. Absolutely nothing in or out via Express, Live, phone or tablet.
'Looking for sever', is all I get until timed out.
Forget calling. No direct phone response for over an hour. Customer support.?
On line chat gave me same erroneous info
So I'm on here on the webmail site, the only way to get any email.
This, not even 24 hours after the settings change deadline.

Yeah, I did live chat b/c I was on the phone waiting for over an hour at 4 a.m. Their wait times are pretty atrociious. It really is a broad discrepancy between several hours and 3 days so let's hope that with a problem that is apparently this widespread, Verizon manages to get it fixed sooner rather than later, especially since the 23rd is the start of Memorial Day weekend.

Sceneryguru,
Once you log into the Verizon website, your emails should get diverted there. I know it's tremendously inconvenient espeically if you, like me, keep a lot of info in folders on your email client page but until this is fixed, you might be able to access the emails on the Vz page and just go back and forth between to make it work somehow. I don't work for Verizon, but I'm just trying to come up with a way to access my emails and get to what I need until this blows over. The emails will come into the website once you log in but they won't go to both sites at the same time so you have to log into the Vz page to get them to go into that inbox. Once this is fixed, log back out and they'll go back to your Outlook or whatever you use.

Good Morning Group:
You're not alone...
I to cannot receive my e-mail this morning. Logged on at 6:45am as I usually do... and received some info concerning SSL.
But no mail.
Did a Google search and found this forum. Looks like we are a small but growing club of dissatisfied Verizon customers.
I certainly hope that the outage is brief, as most of my mail is business related. It’s like telling your customers my e-mail is down. (Read: my dog ate my homework) They don't care, they want answers to their inquiries.

Trenton, NJ here and MacMail email client can't send or receive email either this morning (May 21, 2015). Thought it was the 'new' security settings and changed them back but nothing. Then I found this forum thread. Pitiful service from Verizon.

Same here. When I checked my Outlook (Office 2003 version) this morning (about 4:45am U.S. CDT Dalllas TX area), I got the "send/receive" errors.
My settings are current:
Incoming (POP3) pop.verizon.net Port 995
Outgoing (SMTP) smtp.verizon.net Port 465
I agree with the majority of the posters here regarding general communication strategies with Verizon.
The problem with issues such as these is that the end user isn't aware that the provider has a known issue and hasn't deployed a general communication method to inform the customer so that they don't spend unnecessary time searching for the source of the problem.
To be fair about this particular issue and keeping in mind that this is only one customer's pov, I've had very good service with Verizon FIOS over the years with virtually no interruptions of service and have had only a handful of E-mail (Outlook send/receive errors) outages during that same period of time.
However, Verizon's communication performance isn't good, my take.
The good news, is the 'net itself , "googling", forums such as this one. When it looked like this was a Verizon/server issue, I checked this forum and sure enough, I got verification that this wasn't an issue locally with my PC's.

It would be polite if Verizon posted something on their website that servcie is down, don't waste your time trying to get in. Maybe no one works at Verizon until 9am. Banking hours with good enough for government service.

I'm in Chalfont. Can't get anything. Website had me go through hoops of changing security settings. Evidently Verizon upgraded security last night and now it doesn't work. I have internet but no email on my phone, computer or directly on Verizon website. Infuriating.

- North Jersey here. Same issue. AND if I go to web, it says I need My Fios app. THAT won't download and install. When I request desktop site, I can sign in but page will not display properly. What gives here? Unacceptable that VZ doesn't have an advisory on their website.

Someone just posted on the DSL forum (1) that Verizon has verified the outage via twitter but given no info when it will be back up and (2) that it appears that the webmail is now also down. As to the second, I am still able to send test messages to myself but have not received any emails from the outside, which is kind of strange by this time of the morning so while I cannot independently verify that it is down, it does seem that something is not quite right with it.
Anyone else getting emails or not getting them through the website?

I am in Pittsburgh and my email is down as well. No notification should be unacceptable. Likely move all business email to icloud account at this point. More conficence in apple than Verizon.

Microsoft Outlook also not able to access server. Usually it takes 24 hours for Verizon to recognize a problem. It should never take that long to correct.

The same situation.
I sent/received emails last time at 10 PM 05/20/2015
At 4 AM 05/21/2015 I obtained the following message:
"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Verizon', Server: 'pop.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"
I use WinXP+Outlook Express (Dell desktop) and Win7Home+Outlook2007 (Dell laptop).
At the same time, I was able to enter the Verizon's web mail. I am from Gaithersburg, MD
Hey, VERIZON!
