Trouble reading 'saved' emails

I transfered one of my MSN email files over to a Verizon sub-account . I 'saved background'  of an email to my harddrive but when I open it(in several different options) I can not read it. I think it's called Mime or something like that. So can someone help me. When I saved in MSN I was able to open and read. I read 'saving to harddrive' on the support page but I do not want to use outlook express..I don't like outlook express. Thanks in advance..disgusted already and have 5 more accounts to tranfer..
