Re the recent emai from Verizon: "Verizon Online has modified the way email is handled when sent or received through an email application other than MyVerizon"
If I use Mac Mail to consolidate and view my email from various addresses (invluding verizon) do I need to do anything? Also if I use iPhone to get email from various accounts....
Addendum - I have NOT yet changed any settings for Mac Mail or for my iPhone yet and am still getting my Verizon.net email so I guess i will wait and see if this changes before I do anything........

I did the change too and now most of the time I have to try 3-5 times before I can get my email using Outlook. If I try and send some small picture files it takes forever to send. Why am I paying for high speed internet? Verizon better get this fixed fast.

Like other unsuspecting customers, I made the email settings changes per the recent Verizon Notification, Followed the instructions provided at the website for Outlook Express 5/6 and found that I could no longer send or receive mail. Returned to the original settings and had no trouble at all. Another fine mess, and no answers yet.

I, too, got the email and made the changes. Now I get nothing but error Ox800Ccc0F on my Outlook Express. I would try going back to the old settings but now I can't remember them. *facepalm* Can anyone help with that, please?

Hi,
I ran into the exact same difficulty and forgot the original settings. I did a system restore and it gave me the settings:
outoing Port 25 - (do not check SSL)
incoming Port 110 - here, I can't remember nor did the settings indicate if SSL is checked or not. I left it unchecked and it works fine. I may experiment with checking the SSL, but probably not today. Sometimes you can spend too much time fixing things.

Changed my settings on all email addresses, now just I have failure after failure. When is Verizon going to fix this?

Me too, I made the changes like a good doobee and they don't work so I restored the defaults (THANK YOU MailWasher for that little button...)
I am having trouble connecting with the old settings too, my MailWasher POP3 client now can only connect to incoming.verizon.net about 1/3 of the time. I am having no trouble outbound.
I hope Verizon issues updated instruction on this, because what they've sent so far is worse than useless.

I made the changes and sent test emails. On my mac, the change worked for about 10 minutes. After that, nothing. My BB wouldn't take the changes. I've gone back and now things work again. What's going on? Please, Verizon, what are we supposed to do?

Okidokee ... well I may have an answer. Just spent an hour with tech support who actually had to have their supervisor with them on this issue. Here's what they did and it's now working. (At least for now. 🙂 )
I have Outlook Express, just so you know.
Change the outgoing port to 587.
Uncheck that SSL required.
Change the incoming port to 110.
Uncheck that SSL required.
Apply.
I suggest testing it then. They said I could share this on the forums to see if it helped others. Good luck!!!

Now for the post by rcmichels1 on 01-05-2012 01:28 PM , if the tech support and their supervisor said to Uncheck that SSL required, since the stated purpose of the Important Changes to our Verizon Email Account is ensure ongoing security for Internet customers, why do we uncheck SSL required, since SSL can provide added security???

I had asked the tech support and supervisor a similar question as to what you said about the SSL encryption. I told them the email said to specifically have those checked off but they said no. They could not get my email to work properly when it was checked off.
I think what they did was a quick fix to get it working. I certainly hope that everybody having issues due to their email that they will get it figured out and follow up with a CORRECT email.

Similar problems for sure with a twist...
Got the email, did nothing. This AM I could send but not receive email. Made suggested changes, all is well. Service is spotty now however with periodic send/receive errors but it is working.
My larger issue now is my Droid and Verizon mail. After making the changes to home Outlook, phone Oulook stopped receiving mail. Made the same port changes on the phone and began to receive mail. Then boom, error message ERR connection limit reached for this IP. **bleep**. Then suddenly boom, fifty emails dump into the phone. Ok, cool. Woops, error message again. I'll receive incoming mail occasionally now but spotty, just like home Outlook.
Too many calls to Verizon today and lost a couple. Latest tech has confirmed bigtime issues and gave me a ticket number for those interested, PADQ025S285 and text message says should be resolved by 5pm tomorrow.
insert scream.......

Having posted my previous rant I must report that with the recommended changes in place both my home Outlook and VZW Droid Outlook are responding as normal. Kiss of death I know but just saying.
It has been a frustrating morning to say the least. There is a global repair ticket and the problem is to be resolved by 5pm tomorrow, January 7.

I got Outlook Express to work, but could not get my Iphone 4 to connect. Got error "unable to connect." Called Verizon support. He said that possibly there is an incompatibilty with the software on my iphone and that I should just use the old settings. I've spent a load of time on this. This is ridiculous.
