Verizon email error sending to a new domain

A few days ago, I registered a new domain under one of the new TLDs (.cloud). I setup an email account for the domain. I can send from the account and can receive emails as well. However, when i attempt to send an email to the account from my verizon.net account, it gets rejected by the SMTP server with an error that the host or domain is unkown.
Has anyone else had this problem?
