Did you know that your computer link to Verizon email is NOT encrypted? However you link to verizon.net email, whether by Outlook or Outlook Express or by surfing to verizon.net or verizon.com, the connection from your PC to the Verizon server is NOT encrypted. It is NOT https (with the s on the end).
Maybe, the portion of the page where you log in with user name and password is maybe encrypted, but then when you are looking at your email, the link between your PC or device and Verizon is NOT encrypted.
Do you like that?
I don't, but my earlier complaints to Verizon on the DSL Reports web page went ignored. See a very illuminating set of posts at
Is Verizon email link UNencrypted?
So, if you happen to know anyone in Verizon's legal department, ask him or her to respond here.

You are correct. The Verizon email is not a secure transfer. It sounds like this would be a perfect candidate for the Verizon Idea Exchange. Please search on the idea exchange and cast your vote. There may be another member who made the same suggestion. If not, please add a new idea so your fellow community members can comment and vote on your suggestion. http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-Idea-Exchange/ct-p/ideaexchange . The Verizon Idea Exchange is there for you to submit your ideas and suggestions to Verizon so that we can consider them as we innovate our products and services.
In the mean time if you have a need to have secure email and are not subscribing to it elsewhere, we do have such a product. Its just not the free email like we provide to every Verizon internet account. For more information on Verizons Encrypted Mail service please follow this link http://smallbusiness.verizon.com/products/internet/broadband/secure_mail.aspx

Anthony_VZ: Thanks for your direct and honset answer. Sorry, but there's no need for an "Idea". This is a security deficiency, and Verizon should fix it right away. Other ISP's and email providers have done so. Please re-read my link above and send a note to Verizon's legal dept. Thanks.

Lorena - Just now in the "Ideas" (how lame!) section of this forum, a month after the above, you said the same thing. When exactly will Vz actually protect our ptivate emails? What's the date?
