compulsive entering and re-entering my email password

Since this morning when I received and replied to a "Verizon Notification" I've been required to enter and re-enter my Thunderbird password.  Verizon only gives tips on non-Mozilla apps. Can someone help me?

Enter reenter what password?  What Verizon notification.

Hopefully none that asked to enter a password to some site ask that would be PHISH.  If it was than you need to go directly to verizon site and change your password.

One that told you how to reconfigure email clients such as Thunderbird to use SSL

pop.verizon.net port 995

smtp.verizon.net port 465

If not working than you missed a setting somewhere.  I am using Thunderbird with no problem.  Some screenshots below
