Adding a phone

My husband and I have Apples 6 and 7 on a Verizon plan.  I'd like to add my mother to our plan.  She seldom uses her old flip phone, but its battery is dead and she can't get a replacement.  She isn't really interested in a smart phone and doesn't have wifi at her home.   Any recommendations as to what phone to get her and how to structure our current small data plan to meet her needs?
