Grandfathered data plan with hotshot question?

I currently have four your old unlimited data plan on a Blackberry that is eligible for an upgrade.  I've spoke two to agent at 611 and gotten different answers to the following question:

If I upgrade to a Droid Bionic or a Razar, because I already have an unlimited data plan, that plan would carry over to the new Droid as an unlimited data plan, Correct?

Okay here were the conflict occurred.  I current don't have a hotspot on my Blackberry, because that's not an option on my phone.  If I add the mobile hotspot feature to the new Droid that will have my old data plan grandfathered. Will the hotspot plan be unlimited as well because of my grandfathered data plan?

Hi Doodlebugger,

I can definitely answer all of your questions.

Yes, if you currently have a Smartphone w/unlimited data, and upgrade to another Smartphone with unlimited data, whether it be a 3G or 4G device, you can keep unlimited data on the device.

When it comes to the Hotspot, is it not included at no charge, but there is an unlimited option. Here are the different pricing scenarios, depending on if you upgrade to a 3G device, or a 4G device.

4G device-you would still have unlimited data from the device, and you can purchase an unlimited Hotspot for an additional $30.00 per month.

3G device-you would still have unlimited data from the device, and you can purchase 2GBs of data usage with the Hotspot for $20.00 per month.

I hope this information is helpful in making your decision.

Thanks very much,
