Home Fusion Broadband Usage Skyrocketing
QuitSlowingMeDown

I signed up for Home Fusion a few months back with a 20GB per month allowance. The first month was ok with usage but then began to skyrocket which
prompted me to get the 30GB per month plan. It was fine for a month or so then it began to skyrocket above the 30GB and guess who had to pay more $$$ each month?

Yesterday at approx 1:30 pm I got a 50% usage alert. A few hours later I received another alert that placed me at 75% usage! Nothing changed, we don't
stream movies EVER just gaming but the usage is constantly monitored and any updates are done at a friend’s house. My question is how can we use an average of 1GB per day then all of a sudden use 14GB in one day with no usage beyond our normal routine?

Something smells fishy. The Verizon usage computers must have an algorithm that monitors if you'll be willing to pay for overage charges and adjusts your data usage accordingly.

Has anyone experienced usage that they couldn't account for?

Thanks

I know that overages are upsetting QuitSlowingMeDown because cost is always important. We have a couple of options for keeping up with your usage, blocking usage, and how to prevent overages. Take a look at our Family Base (usage control) features that you can manage online http://vz.to/1fBcg2M & http://vz.to/1BEkMqQ .

I can certainly understand your concern with such a drastic increase in your usage. I assure you that usage is not adjusted to fit what you're not using. Although we don't keep record of exactly what's using the data (what application, which websitres, etc) we can help you to determine where it may be coming from. Are the games you referred to being played through a computer or through a game system (Playstation, XBox, etc)? Do you have multiple devices connecting to your broadband service? Does your computer have any authomatic back up program to send files to a cloud service?

Yes, I signed up for 10GB as we only do email, web surfing, updates and small amount of Facebook. Last July we had 2 days that used 5GB and who knows why and had to pay another overage of $30.00.  August we were fine and no overages. For the billing ending 9-13-14, we are at 14GB and having to pay another $30.00.  It is interesting, my Smartphone at 1GB is fine doing the same thing and never have overages.  It is sadly something you can't prove and have no choice but to pay.

Yes, can't account for the usage.....
