Hotspot feature on Unlimited data plan

I have been grandfathered in to the unlimited plan and would like to turn on the hotspot feature of my phone to allow my kids to connect their wi-fi only tablets occasionally while we are all out and about.  In order to add this feature, do I have to give up my unlimited plan?  What is the current cost of turning on this feature?  Is it a per phone cost (as in mine and my husbands) or a per plan cost (then both our phones will have the ability to do this).

With having the unlimited data plan on your phone, you will need to go to your MyVerizon account online and the "add feature" area. This is where you can add the mobile hotspot feature. If you have a 4G LTE smartphone, the cost is $30 per month for unlimited hotspot data. If you have a 3G only smartphone, it is $20 per month for 2 GB to of hotspot data.
