Is Unlimited Smartphone data really still available?

I was looking at getting a new smartphone with Verizon and while researching the data plans available, I ran across several online discussions stating that you can still get Unlimited data added to a 4G LTE phone. Verizon's website and stores only offers 2/4 GB and other metered plans though.

I asked if I could get this option added at a store and was told no despite showing the representative that other customers had done the same thing.

I would like to know why other customers are able to start new accounts and get a feature that Verizon says is no longer available and yet I am not offered the same option.

Will Verizon be offering this feature to all customers again or will they be removing the feature from these people that got it after it supposedly expired?

All I'm asking for is the same thing other people have received. Apparently that is too much to ask of Verizon.

I agree. I have a neighbor who is stealing cable from their service provider. I went into their office and asked for the same deal that my neighbor had, free cable. They said no! The nerve! They are providing it to someone else, I was just asking for the same courtesy.

There was a bank nearby which was robbed recently. The culprit has not been caught. I went into the same bank and asked for the same amount of money the thief got away with. They said no! The nerve! They gave the money to someone else, I was just asking for the same courtesy.

If you have the unlimited data plan with any smartphone, you can upgrade to a 4G LTE phone and keep the unlimited data plan.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Or keep it when you upgrade to a 3G smartphone!

I understand that, however these discussions are specifically about new customers or new lines of service signing up for one of the metered plans and then getting it changed to unlimited.

New customers are not able to sign up for a unlimited plan because the plans do not exist any longer...  Only long time customers that have the plan will get to be grandfathered into the plan but if they drop the plan they wont be able to get on the again either..

Hope this is what you are trying to clarify..

Do you have unlimited data or tiered data? Have you tried what they are suggesting? It seems as if you can either validate or invalidate the claims by trying what you suggest.

As our Senior Contributors stated Semi Tear data plans are the only ones you can get with a New Smartphone Plan at this time. They are offering this: Its twice the Data for the Price shown but you will need to check with your Local store to see if they are honoring it. An Online Telesales might be as Well.

Click on the Link i Provided: An it will show you the Offer...

I do not have service with Verizon at all at this time. When at the store, I asked about this process and they said what the earlier posters said, you could only have unlimited data if were an existing customer with it already.

I'm not going to sign up for service on a tiered plan if other people are still able to get unlimited for the same or less per month. Some of these people even stated they were getting discounts on the unlimited data plans! When I asked about this as well, the salesperson stated you have to pay $50 per month for data service to get a discount now. I suppose people in these discussion groups could be lying but it seems pretty pointless.

It seems that either the people on these forums are lying or the sales people are and I'm stuck in the middle and really confused.
