It would be nice if they could make a 900 min plan with 5 friends and family. We go over the 700 minutes by a few but do not nearly touch the 1400 minutes. Its a waste for us. May be just charge $7.00 extra for the 200 mins. It would be nice especially for those of us who have been with Verizon wireless for several years.

So basically you are saying that Verizon should offer a plan that is really tailored to your current usage.  I am sure there are others who would like say 800 minutes, and make do with 4 friends and family, for say $4 more than the 700 minute plan.

Unfortunately, Verizon Wireless has their cost of business figures, their market research etc, and decided to offer the small set of plans that they do.   Sometimes people can find plans that better match their needs with another carrier.  Providing that doesn't apply to too many people, it's easier for Verizon to lose some customers than offer a large set of plans.  Especially when you choose to state the price they should charge!

The simple fact is, that we customers are getting fed up with being bent over a barrel and taken for a ride by  these greedy corporate fat cats, and resent our telecommunications being held hostage to profit margins, ARPU, sales metrics, and bottom lines. Most customers, with the exception of the shameless corporate capitalist apologists on here, don't give an avian rodent's posterior about these things They just want fast and reliable service, generous data and minute allowances, and the want it CHEAP. Privatization of ANY industry cannot provide this paradigm. Only socialized, centralized, and collectivized management of the public infracture can. That's why the Eropean system is so different from ours.

Hence the rise of socialist-funded movements like the Wall Street Protesters.

Yes, consumers want the best service/quality/etc for the least cost in all areas.     And I would agree (coming from Europe!) that sometimes the government(s) need to step in.  Not sure how that relates to the OP though.

BTW: which European system are you thinking of?  While some WERE government owned (e.g. the precursor of BT Group) many of them were privatized.     The big wireless operators in Europe are private companies like Vodafone, French Telecom (Orange Group), Telefonica (O2) etc.

This has been brought up a number of times - 700 shared minutes is just that - 700 shared minutes.  Our 5 lines goes over that easily - we are at around 1000 minutes, which would be well over $100 in overages on the 700 minute plan.  For $20 more, we get 1400, so that works.

We also get 10 F&F numbers - which we have chosen to add.  That makes our total shared usage go WAAAAY down, to like 400 minutes.  We have NO worries at all about overages now, and yes, it's frustrating to see 1000 or more minutes a month go *unused* - I could remedy that by deleting all of our F&F, so our usage would go up.  It's just rearranging the numbers though, because then we'd have all these empty F&F slots going unused.

I agree there's a huge jump from 700 minutes to 1400 + 10 F&F, and probably a LOT of folks (like you & me) are in that middle ground and would like a plan somewhere between the two - however, the price difference between the two is $20, so I'd save $10??  The 700 plan is too small - for $20 more we get all we need and then some - look at it as "room to grow".....
