Transfer of responsibility

Ok I am unsure if this is possible.  I wanted to doublecheck this to ensure if it is plausible.

Here are the facts.

1.  I have a line that is out of contract.

2.  My cousin wants out of his contract.

3.  I will take over his line.

Now the question is...  Can I port MY number(line is no contract) to his line after I do a ToR?  I understand I will lose my upgrade option if it is possible, and he has like 6 months of his contract left.

let me guess, he has unlimted data nad you want it?

anyway, i do not think this is possible

you can take over his line

but i dont think you can get your number onto it

you can change the number on it though

I figured as much, but its ok I can keep his number.  Wife would get mad about all the girls calling me. lol  I figured out a way how to get my number over to that line, but it'll cost me like $50.

Hi Tidbits:

Your situation comes up frequently, and I have an answer for you. We don't offer the option for replacing one VzW number with another VzW number.  The reason? Each number has its own contract, and for legal reasons, we cannot allow one number to assume another line's contract.

There is of course a costly workaround which you may have found. The steps you can follow are oversimplified, and listed below:

1) Port your number out to another carrier.

2) Assume liability for your cousin's number. (Step 1 and 2 can be switched).

3) File a port request to replace the newly assumed number with the "other carrier's" number.

I hope you have good reasons to do this (like unlimited data). Good luck!
