Traveling to Toronto

I've got a 5S and the IPhone data/phone plan. I'm going to be heading up to Toronto next week for a few days and want to know what I can do in advance to make sure my phone isn't a brick or that I won't wind up with an outrageous bill when I come back. Will I be able to use it up there via roaming (and if so what are the charges like?) or do I need to get another Sim? Thanks in advance!

Canada charges are as follows.  Talking id .89 a minute.  If your on the more everything plan you can pay 15 dollars to get 1000 minutes.  Texting in canada is considered roaming.  so it would come out of whatever kidn of text package you have currently.    Data is 2 dollars a mb, or you can buy a 100 mb for 25 dollars.  if you dont want to buy data you can turn your phones data off while your gone nad only use wifi.  You must qualify for int abbilities though   so depending on how long you have abeen a custoemr and if your current on everything will depend if you can use internationally.   Your iphone 5s is unlocked.  You could if you wanted buy a sim card in canada and stick it in your phone and use there data.  however this will wipe your phone clean and its more of a hassle then just paying the verizon rates as your only going to be gone a short amount of time

If texting is considered local then that's all I really need.

It's amazing to me that roaming is still a thing in this day and age. 😛
