Apple Watch won’t activate if not bought from Verizon

I activated an Apple Watch SE (2) that was active on T-Mobile. I moved all of my lines from to mobile to Verizon. The watch was the last device I moved because it was a standalone for my minor child and I didn’t want a disruption in her service until I was certain there would be no issues. I checked the IMEI and phone number and it said it was able to be ported to the Verizon network. However, once I activated on Verizon and received “confirmation”, the watch had a different number (I lost my prior number) and the watch has no cellular activation. After dealing with tech support for two hours, they went to Level 2 who told me the watch isn’t compatible with the Verizon network, which is funny considering that it told me it was during activation. This is a known issue with non-Verizon purchased watches. They need to be manually added to the Verizon database by the engineering department. See this Apple link:
