Can't swipe to dismiss notifications on Samsung Active2

I have been unable to swipe left or right to either dismiss or snooze calendar notifications or turn a timer off. I have to dismiss the notifications on my phone, instead. It shows that I am swiping (blue area grows in that direction) but just keeps going off. Is there any fix for this?
